Un nouveau lotissement a chassé les agriculteurs éthiopiens de leurs terres. Ils s’installent en lisière. Là, un petit garçon à l’imagination fertile navigue entre légendes de la forêt toute proche, récupération d’objets électroniques à la décharge et envie de ce nouveau monde. Avec ses super pouvoirs de lion imaginaire (’’Anbessa’’), il affronte la modernité.

Mo Scarpelli is an Italian-American director and cinematographer of non-fiction cinema. Her films have screened at the Berlinale, Visions du Réel, IDFA, SXSW, Hot Docs, Durban IFF, BFI London Film Festival, FIPADOC, Thessaloniki, FICCI and others. Her debut solo-directed film ANBESSA was nominated for the Crystal Bear and Glashütte Documentary Prize at the 69th Berlinale, and broadcast on ARTE/ZDF. Mo is a selection of Berlinale Talents. She lives in Rome.
