Chaque nuit, des corps anonymes échouent dans la salle d'autopsie du Dr Cristina Cattaneo. Elle les appelle les « purs inconnus ». Ils appartiennent à la marge de la société. Ce sont des sans-abris, des prostituées, des adolescents fugueurs… Ces derniers temps, ce sont surtout des migrants, rejetés par la mer Méditerranée sur les côtes italiennes.

Born in 1984 in Italy. Works as screenwriter and editor, often together with Mattia Colombo. She edited THE DISAPPEARANCE OF MY MOTHER (2019) by Beniamino Barrese, selected at Sundance, and BROTHERHOOD (2021) by Francesco Montagner, awarded at Locarno. PURE UNKNOWN is her directorial debut.
Mattia COLOMBO
Mattia Colombo, screenwriter and director. His documentaries Alberi che camminano (Trees that walk), Voglio dormire con te (I wanna sleep with you), Il Passo (The col) was premiered in many international festivals. Recently, Il Posto (A Steady Job), an Italian-French co-production with ARTE and NDR, Special Mention at Solinas Award Documentary for the Cinema, premiered in Visions du Réel, Hot Docs (Canada), DMZ (South Korea), Festival dei Popoli (Italy) was in competition for the Nastri d’Argento and it was finalist at Premio David di Donatello. Sconosciuti Puri (Pure Unknown), co-direct with Valentina Cicogna, is an Italy/Switzerland/Sweden co-production, developed within EURODOC, Dok.Incubator, MEDIA Creative Europe and Eurimages. It will be premiered in Hot Docs, Karlovy Vary, Visions du Réel (Prix Jury Interreligeux) and Biografilm (Audience Award). From the books by forensic scientist Cristina Cattaneo, Mattia is developing a TV series.
