Vincent Rimbaux is a documentary filmmaker and cinematographer who lives in Brazil. Born in Brittany, he grew up in Germany, southern France, and Africa. A few years after starting a career as a "journalist-cameraman" in Paris, he challenged himself and took to the road. Based in Rio since 2003, he has been following the latest news stories across the continent while working on a number of long-term projects: Olhar bom de bola, a documentary about children in the "City of God" who are learning photography from a war reporter, AFP photographer Christophe Simon; and his first feature film, Vertige de la Chute (Ressaca), a black and white metaphorical tale about the fall of a country through the demise of the Rio Opera. The film was selected in the competitions of several festivals around the world: Fipadoc,It received the awards for Best Documentary and Best Documentary Direction at the Rio Festival in 2019, and is nominated at the International Emmy Awards 2020.
