Maja Novaković (born in 1987 in Srebrenica) is a Ph.D. candidate specializing in the poetics of heritage in the works of Sergei Parajanov. Her debut film, Then Comes the Evening, premiered at Visions du Reel in 2019 and earned an OSCAR® qualification after winning at the Full Frame Documentary Festival. The film went on to win over 50 awards and was screened at more than 130 festivals, including Hot Docs, Sarajevo Film Festival, SFFILM, Camerimage, and Jihlava. It also received a Cinema Eye Honors nomination and made the Doc NYC Short List. Maja is an alumna of both Sarajevo Talents and IDFAcademy Her.
