Lisa Place (1996) studied philosophy in Paris and Montreal. She worked on various issues related to colonisation (indigenous peoples and the Canadian state, the French West Indies and the metropolis). She then turned to documentary film and completed a Master's degree, "DEMC: le documentaire, écritures du monde contemporain", at the Université Paris Cité, during which "Mémoires de plomb" was created.
