In Tehran, after serving her prison sentence for the murder of her violent husband, Tahereh must negotiate with her in-laws. According to Iranian Islamic law, they can decide her fate: execution, or pardon in exchange for financial compensation. An anti-death penalty activist helps with the mediation.
