François VAUTIER
Verdun, 1916. At the dawn of a battle, a telephonist soldier is called into a trench to repair the line of a command post. He is just 20 years old, and his name is Julien. Battlefield offers an immersion into the heart of the trenches and the absurdity of war.

After I Saw The Future (2017) and Recoding Entropia (2020), François Vautier returns to the Venice Film Festival for the third time with Champ de Bataille (2024). In this new opus, the director experiments with live action in VR to tell the story of the absurdity of war and, by extension, explore fraternity and humanity. François Vautier's universe is marked by an exploration of the absolute, the infinite, and their flip side: the limits of space, time and human becoming. His work has been shown at numerous international festivals and immersive museums in Paris, Amsterdam, Dubai and New York.
