In 2009, dozens of merchant ships were taken hostage by Somali pirates, such as the Belgian "Pompeii". For weeks the crew lived under the threat of armed men while the ransom negotiations were recorded by the Belgian authorities who dreamed of bringing the king of pirates to justice.

Lennart Stuyck is one of the founders of production company Diplodokus and directed four successful documentary series for Belgian Public broadcaster VRT. His first feature-length documentary What about Eric was awarded best documentary at Docville festival and Film Festival Oostende.
Maarten STUYCK
Maarten Stuyck has a masters degree in history and journalism. Worked as a photo editor for Belgian newspaper De Morgen before joining production company Diplodokus in 2014. Writing and directing documentary series ever since.
