The images that record Austria’s history as a young nation since 1918 are ripe for interpretation. One important source was Carl Ellinger‘s Salzburg photo studio, best known today for promoting the worldwide fame of the Salzburg Festival. The only problem: Carl Ellinger disappeared in 1916! So who took Studio Ellinger’s thousands of photos?
