We want to belong to families, but how can you define one? The film reflects on the difficulty of defining things while at the same time demanding answers. The outer world and inner dialogue meet in a fragile cut-out world and in the tactility of clay.

Heta Jokinen is an animation artist from Helsinki, Finland. DRAWN IN WATER is her graduation film from studies of MA Animation at Aalto University in 2025. Her favourite way to express in animation is through materials and mixed techniques, usually stop-motion flavoured ways.
At the moment she wants to test limits and freedoms of documentary and animation mixed together. Care and soft values are close to her heart in the topics and also working methods. She is a member of the coop Paperihattu, a collective that is made of animation artists from Turku, Helsinki and Tallinn.
