Elf, une affaire d’État

In the 1990s, executives at the Elf oil company organized the embezzlement of €300 million. Courageous judges took on this white-collar crime and a vast network of corruption despite threats against them and the political protection enjoyed by the defendants. This led to the creation of the French National Financial Prosecutor’s Office in 2013.
