Gemma, a Catalan nurse helps asylum seekers trapped in Greece and Serbia to clandestinely cross the borders of the Balkan route by lending them Spanish IDs and driving them. She succeeds time and time again until a mishap turns everything on its head: she ends up in a Serbian prison accused of human trafficking.

Arantza Diez is a documentary director born in Barcelona 1975 who has been working as a journalist for TV3 and as a freelance filmmaker for the last 15 years. She started following the so-called refugee crisis in 2015 in the Greek island of Lesbos. "Gemma has a plan" is the solo-directing debut of the director focused on refugees crossing the borders to reach Europe.
She co-directed "On Gaza s mind" and "To Kyma". She has been also screenwriter of docuseries: "Macarena" "La liga de los hombres extarordinarios" and "La maldición de Windsor".
