In the interwar years, three incredible women would square up to the task: the daring Adrienne Bolland, the intrepid Maryse Bastié, and the brilliant Hélène Boucher. Lone wolves and thrill seekers, they would laugh in the face of death as they tested the limits of social conventions. Now forgotten, they captured the imagination, if not the devotion, of their contemporaries.
