“Escape” is a poetic and intimate journey on the path of exile, through the story of five Syrian women artists scattered in different countries. From Paris to Oslo, from La Palma to Istanbul, the protagonists recount their broken story and their personal revolution, through their artistic practice. While painting the portrait of a generation of creative and independent women, the film generates a reflection around the sense of belonging and the role of art in the reinvestment of a new life.

Of Lebanese-Canadian origin, Katia Jarjoura has lived for a long time in the Middle East where she directed several reports and documentaries for ARTE. She has also directed two short fiction films: Dans le Sang (France 2 award at the Brest festival) and Seul le Silence, (broadcast on France 3, 2017). Based in Paris, she develops documentary and fiction projects. She also works as a script doctor and speaker in various workshops.
