In 2022, Mantas Kvedaravičius went back to Ukraine, Mariupol, at the heart of the war, to be with the people he had met and filmed in 2015. Following his death, his producers and collaborators have put all their strength into continuing transmitting his work, his vision and his films.

Mantas Kvedaravičius (Lithuania) was a filmmaker and academic with a long-standing interest in themes of absence, materiality, and the body in their performative and political manifestations. He held a PhD in social anthropology from Cambridge University, and was an associate professor at Vilnius University. His documentaries - Barzakh (2011), Mariupolis (2016) and Mariupolis 2 (2022) - have premiered and won awards at the Cannes, Berlinale, Busan, Hong Kong and Nyon Visions du Réel festivals.
