Johann Trollmann, nicknamed Rukeli or the Gypsy, became middleweight champion in Nazi Germany. Stripped of his title by racial laws, he was deported to Neuengamme, where he died at the age of 37. But not before taking up the challenge of beating a kapo in the ring, choosing to die as a champion.
