Hannah Jandl was born and raised in Vienna, where she studied philosophy at the University of Vienna after graduating from high school. Meanwhile, she gained some experience on film sets and realized her own projects such as a documentary about a karaoke club in Vienna. Since fall 2019 she studies documentary film and television journalism at the HFF in Munich. Her first short film Oben Offen was screened at the Kassel Dokfest, the Kitzbühel Film Festival as well as at the Filmschoolfest in Munich, where it won the Prix Interculturel 2021. Her second film So oder So premiered at the Dokfest Munich.
