Frédéric GUELAFF

Frédéric Guelaff, at 58 years old, is a director who masterfully captures the intimacy of his characters, infusing his films with an aesthetic style full of sensitivity and emotion.
He has a unique vision and a distinctive sense of framing that gives the viewer the impression of being always close to the characters or objects being filmed. He excels at elevating bodies, textures, and details, playing with light, and creating delicate atmospheres. This sensitivity in his direction makes each of his films a work of art in its own right, balancing between cinema and photography, with a remarkable emphasis on quality.

His camera serves as a tool to reveal “the behind-the-scenes,” attempting to answer the profound question: "How are things made? What is the miracle? The extraordinary in the ordinary."

His recent documentary, "Yannick Alléno, La Traversée," exemplifies this approach, addressing with strong and subtle sensitivity the backstage of haute cuisine—highlighting the artistry of a renowned chef and his team, while also exploring the personal tragedy of a grieving father.

Frédéric's career truly took off in the 1990s when Yohji Yamamoto invited him to film his runway shows and the behind-the-scenes of his collections.
Over the years, Frédéric has also worked with major brands in the realms of fashion and lifestyle, including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Cartier, Armani, Ruinart, and Martin Margiela. He has filmed iconic personalities such as Angelina Jolie, Sean Connery, Bono, Zidane, Pelé, Maradona, and Clive Owen.

Drawing on his diverse skills and rich experience, Frédéric has created a wide range of content, from documentaries and commercials to brand-centered films and fictional narratives.
