Manuel Mateo is a Colombian anthropologist and filmmaker. He graduated in documentary directing from the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Tv de San Antonio de los Baños.
His film Ánima won the Astor Piazzolla award for best Latin American short film at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, and best National Documentary in Bogoshorts. His short film Oculta was screened in the Cinema de Urgencia slot at DocsLisboa 2021, and received an honorable mention at the Toro International Film Festival. On the other hand, he did production and sound for the documentary El Pastor, which received honorable mention recognition at FICUNAM 2022. Currently, he is studying filmmaking master’s degree at Elias Querejeta Zine Eskola, Spain.
