Les Esprits libres

Réalisation
Bertrand HAGENMÜLLER

Gathered together in a large house by the sea, carers, patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease and musicians are the protagonists of an improbable artistic residency. Beyond what separates them, they come together to create and live together. A hymn to life, to the living, to everything that is still possible... despite everything!

Born in 1983, Bertrand Hagenmüller is a documentary filmmaker and sociologist.
After studying sociology at the University of Bordeaux, his work as a sociologist and his taste for creativity naturally led him to film the people he interviewed, and documentary film gradually took centre stage in his work. In 2011, he obtained a Master's degree in documentary filmmaking. At the same time, he joined the Institut Européen de Philosophie Pratique (European Institute of Practical Philosophy) as a trainer-director, combining support for social and medico-social professionals with the production of audiovisual works on practical philosophy.
Today, his work as a documentary filmmaker is divided between auteur projects for cinema and television and ‘mediation’ creations in support of his missions as a trainer and lecturer. His films take a close look at people's experiences and the philosophical and human significance of their testimonies, and tackle major social issues such as support for vulnerable people (Alzheimer's disease, disability, child protection) and the political challenges of modernity (Notre-Dame-des-Landes). His musical and theatrical compositions are an important part of his artistic universe.
