Rafael Manuel is a Filipino filmmaker currently based in between Amsterdam, London, & Manila. His short film, “Filipiñana”, won numerous prizes all over the world including the Silver Bear Jury Prize at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival. His work in cinema has been featured by ARTE, the Criterion Collection, the New York Times, Cineuropa, Screen Daily & Variet. In 2022, the Rolex Mentor and Protegé Arts Initiative selected Rafael as their film protegé to be mentored by Chinese Director Jia Zhang-Ke over a cycle of 2 years. 

Rafael is currently working on his first 2 feature films: “Filipiñana” with the support of Film 4, the Cannes Cinéfondation La Residence, the Locarno Filmmakers Academy, Tokyo Talents, the BFI Talents Network, the Berlinale Talents Script Station and the Oxbelly Lab & “Patrimonio” with the support of the Hubert Bals Script & Development Fund. Principal photography for “Filipiñana” is scheduled for April 2024.

Tatjana Fanny is a Swiss filmmaker who lives between Zurich, London and San Sebastián. She has a background in painting and religious studies and holds a master’s degree in film creation from Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola in the Basque Country. Her work reflects upon the relationship between identity and familial heritage and has been shown in festivals such as Visions du Réel. She is currently developing ‘Mädchenmorgen, Blütenträume’, delving into her family archive to uncover hidden generational bonds.
