Ferida, a Bosnian, lives within sight of the EU’s external border. Every day she witnesses refugees’ desperate attempts to reach the EU and her memories of violence and war come flooding back. Nahid is 15 years old and is stranded here after fleeing the Taliban. In this hypnotic narrative, the fading echoes of Ferida’s stories and Nahid’s voicemails intertwine.

Lara Milena Brose studied philosophy and has been studying documentary film directing at the University of Television and Film Munich since 2018. She shoots a lot abroad, including cinematic works in Nicaragua, Mexico, Bosnia Herzegovina and Macedonia. Her work was shown at film festivals internationally, such as IDFA, Tampere Film Festival and DocsMX. Her last documentary film “Survive”, qualified for a short film Oscar and won the main prize for documentary at CamerImage film festival. “Echoes from Borderland” is her first feature movie.
Lara Milena Brose is a co-founder of AK49, a political artistic collective that focuses on female perspectives on war and disability rights in war zones.
