In Lahou-Kpanda, Ivory Coast, Aya and her mother are direct victims of climate change. They are displaced from their peninsula, which is doomed to disappear under the waters. They are reluctant to abandon their sand, their roots and their deads to leave for the city in the hope of finding a job.

Simon Gillard was born in Kostenets, a village near Sofia in Bulgaria. He was adopted by a couple from Brittany. After five years of scientific studies in France, he cut the ties with his family and his adopted country. In 2008, he moved to Belgium where he completed a master's degree in film direction (INSAS). Since his graduation, he has been interested in undocumented rural territories, mainly in Africa. His films have been shown in international festivals: Festival dei popoli, Rotterdam, Cinéma du Réel, FIFF...
