Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud: two legendary figures of British figurative art. Two friends and two rivals who cultivated the mystery of their unique and symbiotic thirty-year relationship. Through the accounts of their inner circle, an abundance of archives and the clues hidden in their paintings, this documentary brings their intriguing friendship back to life.

Catherine Aventurier studied editing in Boulogne-Billancourt. After editing cinema programs on M6, she moved on France 5 with the cultural magazine Ubik. After two years, she became director of the show. She then directed Un Soir au Musée which became La Galerie France 5 then a series of four films La Route de l’Art.
Today, she carries a collection of films rich in 16 episodes and produced by france.tv studio and broadcast on France 5: Duos d’Artistes. This series focuses on the influence between two artists - whether they are a couple, friends or parents - and dissects their works through this unique relationship. Whether Van Gogh and Gauguin, Suzanne Valadon and Maurice Utrillo (Les Étoiles de la Scam Award), Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, Niki de Saint-Phalle and Jean Tinguely (FIFA Montreal Award), or Edward and Jo Hopper (Awarded at the Chagrin Festival in Ohio), this point of view of the duo changes the way we look at the artists' works.
She also works for BeauxArts.com, for which she provides videos for the website, as well as for AmArt films, for whom she produces artistic short films around contemporary art.
Since 2023, she has produced episodes of Docs de la Grande Librairie for Rosebud Productions: Virginia Woolf, Colette and soon Marguerite Yourcenar and Voltaire.
