They are the giants of southern Italy, olive trees that are sometimes thousands of years old and thought to be almost immortal. But now they've been hit by a devastating bacterium. Xylella Fastidiosa has already killed 21 million olive trees, disrupting environment, landscape, economy, and even human relations.

Davide Barletti and Lorenzo Conte are among the founders of the independent collective Fluid Video Crew. They realize, from 1995 to 2008 video installations, short movies and documentary features. In 2008 they write and direct their first long feature film Fine Pena Mai, starring Claudio Santamaria and Valentina Cervi.

Always in 2008 Davide Barletti directs Radio Egnatia, a documentary in competition at 26th edition of Torino Film Festival and special event at Tirana International Film Festival and at Thessaloniki Documentary Festival. In 2009 he takes part as author and director at the project “Fromzero.tv”, first Italian web platform for documentary, realizing several short movies set in the regions affected by earthquake.

In 2009 they realize Diario di uno scuro, a story about the criminal mafia organization in Puglia: Sacra Corona Unita. The documentary is produced by Italy and France and on air in several international tv broadcaster. In 2010 they direct the documentary Non c’era nessuna signora a quel tavolo, a biography dedicated to the first Italian woman documentarist, Cecilia Mangini. In 2011 they direct for RAI Ritratto di Ettore Scola, Argentina 2001-2011, le voci di una rivolta, Il debito della democrazia and Theo Angelopoulos, il poeta del tempo.

From 2013 to 2015 they are authors and directors of three seasons of tv series Artisti del Gusto on National Geographic Channel, gaining the 45° Key Award for Brand Entertainment Content. In 2014 Davide Barletti realizes with Jacopo Quadri Il paese dove gli alberi volano, a documentary selected at Mostra del Cinema di Venezia. In 2016 he writes and directs the short movie Vendesi Salento.

In 2017 La guerra dei cafoni opens in theatres, the second fiction movie by Barletti- Conte, based upon the novel by Carlo D’Amicis of the same name, produced by Amedeo Pagani and by Minimum Fax Media. La guerra dei cafoni is nominated for Best Photography and Best Editing at Nastri d’Argento 2017 and for Best Non- Original Screenplay at the David di Donatello 2018.

In 2019 Amedeo Pagani’s production company La Luna entrusts the two directors, in collaboration with Carlo D’Amicis, the writing of an original screenplay titled Nella terra dei maghi. In 2019 Davide Barletti is artistic director of #tu6scuola inside the project Con i Bambini, financed by the Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri against to educational poverty in infancy, and for the creation of the first interactive platform of gaming and narration build with more than 300 middle school students. Currently he is developing with the documentary Sand Roads, an Italian-Australian production.
