Ambroise Vollard, an art dealer of genius, spotted the future greats of modern art at the end of the 19th century, and built up a fabulous collection. After his accidental death, this treasure trove was coveted by swindlers, bankers, auctioneers and museum directors, who continue to fight over the inheritance to this day.

Tania Rakhmanova was born in Russia when it was still the USSR and left the country to West Europe in the beggining of the 1990’s. Her career as a director began when Brian Lapping invited her to work on his documentary series, produced by the BBC, The Second Russian Revolution (1991). She has worked on several awards winning documentaries in the UK and France, including the EMMY winning Cuban Crisis. Since 1997 she has produced and directed more than 20 documentary series and films focusing on historical, cultural, and political themes. Her films received many international awards including EMMY nominations, Golden eagle, Fipadoc, Pessac. The series Trump Takes on the World she codirected has been nominated for the 2022 BAFTA.
